The Jets can enjoy their RFA and keep him
Also they can suck a boat load of Richards |

Patrick Laine for Max Domi would instantly be the worst trade in the history of the NHL. I don't think the Jets have a very good GM, but I would be absolutely shocked if he was this bad.

Ek, any more follow-up on the Sabres offer sheet? Remember how I said they were probably just busy working on an extension for McCabe before his arb hearing tomorrow. Nailed it. Sabres announced the McCabe extension today. But maybe they were working on a big offer sheet at the same time? It's possible. Ask your source and report back. |

I would absolutely trade Domi for Laine.......Domi was junk the last couple years in Arizona and wasn’t worth a bag of pucks. So he had a good year.......big deal, he will fade again! Laine will always be a big time goal scorer! Goodbye Max. |

Domi just established himself as a top line center... you would trade him off that quickly for a winger.... albeit a fantastic goal scoring winger. 😆 |

He was good at center but not sure he would be number one most teams. 72 points is low for a true 1st line center. He's more like a poor mans first line center. |

But that is year one at center... how many centers hit 72 points in their first year at the position? I think he's going to keep getting better . |

Since when did Domi become a star ? He has one good year out of 4 and now people think he's a superstar ? PLEASE. Laine is 3 years younger and has had 3 great offensive years in a row ! |

The elite, true number one centers more often than not hit 72 pts and higher by age 24.
Also even as a winger, he was barely able to hit 50 pts.
These numbers dont scream number one anything on most competing teams. 72 pts is pretty darn good but not true number one stats. |

Domi is an all-around better player than Laine and I don't think that's debatable, plus he's a legit top-six center. The main difference here is goal-scoring prowess.
Laine is probably going to be a 35G guy on average, but Domi is much harder gauge. He's scored 18, 9(52 games), 9 and 28. We really don't know yet if last season was an aberration for Domi or him settling in.
I'd give Domi the benefit of the doubt and say he's good for 20 to 25 goals a year. You combine that with the fact he's simply a better player, you just don't move him.

I would say, in Laines defense, that's hes not even in his prime, while Domi is hitting his. If it took domi several years to step up his game you have to afford Laine some time too. I think in his prime hes going to average 40-50 goals a year and still can round his game more than what it is today.
Took Ovie some time to grasp the two way game but he slowly got there even if hes not the best at it.
The issue here is that Habs are desperate for a center so they cant afford to lose Domi. But I think Laines stats will exceed Domis when all is said and done.
36, 44 and 30 goals from ages 18 19 20 is amazing. Imagine what he can do when hes 24, Domis age. Mean while domi got like 18, 9(59 games, probably hits 14 if healthy) and 9 from ages 20,21,22.
The way I see it, this is being judged when Domi had his best year of his career and Laine his worst. Many mistakes are made when judging or comparing players using this method. The big picture gets missed when focusing on a sample size. |

Brutal Strome and Domi trades. So upset the Leafs never got in on those moves. |
